Yup! I'm guilty as charged. Worrying has been my pastime well since I can remember. I have worried about the past, present and future, money, relationships, kids, house, dogs, car repairs, well you get the idea. You name it and I have worried about it at some time or other in my life. But here's what worrying does for me.....absolutely NOTHING! That's right all those minutes planning for the worst case scenario thinking that I'm some how more "prepared" in case something goes wrong has only put that something right in my lap...to what? You guessed it....go WRONG!
So what else does worrying do for me? It blocks my connection to Spirit, how does that happen you ask? Isn't Spirit with us all the time? The short answer to that question is yes Spirit is with us all the time, however, when are minds are so filled with chatter about all the things that could go wrong we can't hear Spirit telling us about all the things that will go right and the direction that we need to go next.
I admit some days it's far easier to bring my mind "back to center" as it were but some days like today, well it's not as easy, but I do the work anyway knowing that it will help quiet my mind. I make a gratitude list. I know it sounds simple and many of you may already do this every morning before getting out of bed...good on you! But for us Worry Warts I need an extra dose of gratitude to keep it real. I start with everything that I can see. This engages my mind and senses. I am grateful for the beautiful house I live in, the trees in my yard, the dogs quietly sleeping, etc. Then I take it a step deeper, I am grateful for my supportive family and friends, I am grateful for the rain failing to quench the thirst of our newly planted grass seed.
All these things that I am grateful for help me remember that all those other things that I was worrying about are far outweighed by everything that I already have and love including my connection to Spirit. After my gratitude list I then ask Spirit to please give me direction and support about the thing that I am most worried about. For me I usually hear a few words of direction but for you it may be an inspired thought, a solution that didn't present itself before or an urge to call someone and the conversation will spark new ideas.
So just know my friends you are not alone in your worry, remember to take stock of all the wonderful things in your life so that your mind will calm so that you may receive your own divine guidance.
Warts Not More,
Much Love and Many Blessings to You All!
